For 54 years First English Language School has accumulated many traditions, not only in the academic but also in the extracurricular sphere. |

An old tradition is the so called 'Shakespeare Evenings', which in the last few years are organized in June in the form of 'Week of the English Language'. Every class, with the help of their English Teachers, shows their knowledge in the form of dramatised pieces of literary works of English authors. |
|

| |
The brass band is one of the most popular faces of the First English Language School. Within its history it has been not only place for talented students but also has been a mean of communication and contact between students from different grades. The recording for EMI, the tours in France, England and Germany, its participation in different activities are only a small part of its programme. |
|

| |
The traditional concert of the school is place where the students can show their talents. It is usually prepared with lots of enthusiasm and turns into a feast not only for the participants and organizers, but also for the spectators. The concert demonstrates that we are not only smart and ambitious, but we also sing, dance and take part in plays in the same high level. |
|

| |
The dance ensembles — the cheerleaders and the folklore one are constant part of the school. The folklore ensemble usually takes part in all major cultural activities in the First English Language School and plays a vital role in the preservation of the traditional Bulgarian customs. Our cheerleaders (one of the few in Sofia), take part in many events and prove their professionalism. They sometimes cooperate with our brass band in mutual projects. |

From the foundation of the school there is a library with educational, fiction, popular science literature in Bulgarian, English, Russian, Spanish, French, and German. Now there are around 27 000 items in the library and their number is constantly increasing. The library works with some of the best publishers — Prosveta, Lettera, Longman, Pons and others. There are 2 reading–rooms and several working places with computers. |
